Clark and Reese Take Their Rivalry to the WNBA
Indiana Fever's Clark Earns First Double-Double
WEB Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese transferred their already storied collegiate rivalry into the professional ranks, as they faced off in the WNBA for the first time on Friday night. Clark, the 1st overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, had a strong debut for the Indiana Fever, recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Reese, on the other hand, did not play due to an injury.
Indiana Wins, Clark Shines
Despite the absence of Reese, the Indiana Fever were able to secure a victory against the Las Vegas Aces, thanks in part to Clark's impressive performance. Clark's first WNBA points came on a baseline layup in the second quarter, and she went on to add seven more points in the third quarter. In addition to her scoring, Clark also contributed eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Other key contributors for the Fever included Kelsey Mitchell, who led the team in scoring with 18 points, and NaLyssa Smith, who added 17 points. The Fever's defense also played a key role in the victory, as they held the Aces to just 40% shooting from the field.
Clark's Next Challenge
The Indiana Fever will be back in action on Sunday, when they travel to Dallas to take on the Wings. It will be another tough test for Clark and the Fever, but they will be looking to build on their strong start to the season.
