M25 Closures: Full Weekend Shutdown for Major Works
Second Closure This Year for UK's Busiest Motorway
Essential Maintenance and Upgrades to Disrupt Traffic
The M25, the UK's busiest motorway, will be fully closed for a full weekend for the second time this year. The affected section will be between Junction 8 (A217 Reigate) and Junction 10 (Cobham). Closures will be in both directions from Friday, May 10, 2024, to Monday, May 13, 2024.
National Highways, the organization responsible for maintaining England's motorway and major road network, has planned this closure to facilitate essential maintenance and upgrade works. These works are crucial for ensuring the safety and longevity of this vital infrastructure.
Additional Weekend Closures Planned
National Highways has also announced plans for three more weekend closures on the M25 later this year. The dates and locations of these closures are yet to be confirmed, but drivers are advised to anticipate potential disruptions.
The upcoming work between junctions nine (A243 Leatherhead) and 10 (A3 Wisley) will necessitate the closure of the M25 anti-clockwise between J14 and J13 from Friday, May 10, 2024, at 21:00 GMT to Monday, May 13, 2024, at 06:00 GMT.
Alternative Routes and Traffic Management
During the closures, National Highways will implement a comprehensive traffic management plan to minimize disruption and ensure the safety of road users. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time if their journey is affected.
